Living the dream

It’s been a long time since I last posted, so I thought it would be a good time to catch everyone up with what has been happening. And there’s definitely been a lot happening!

First – and most importantly – I’ve made the leap and taken Bazz Granger Woodworks full time! With that came a move to Edinburgh and my first professional workshop. Until this point I’ve been running my business as a part time concern from spare rooms and abandoned spaces I’ve borrowed, but now I’m set up in my own professional shop and I’ve never been happier. I can’t tell you how motivating it is to have your own dedicated workshop, and I am already seeing a massive increase in quality, productivity and inspiration.

I’m not going to lie, it’s been a very long, hard road, but I wouldn’t change anything.

Secondly I’ve finally managed to get my logo sorted. I’ve had the image floating around my head for many years now, but I’ve never been able to get what I can see in my mind’s eye on to the computer. Going full time was the kick up the rear I needed to make that happen, and I’m very pleased with the end result.

Getting a logo was the catalyst to a few other things. I now have proper business cards, a website and emails. There’s no reason for you not to get in touch with your furniture needs now!

I’ve also been lucky enough to participate in my first furniture exhibition, and you may have seen the three pieces I made for the Scottish Furniture Maker’s Association Annual Exhibition 2018. I loved it, and although it was a stressful few weeks fitting in making the pieces around my other work it was an amazing experience and I received a wonderful response. I can’t wait to do it again.

Linked in with this I’ve also done a few craft fairs, selling wooden gifts and small items . I love making wee projects and letting my imagination run free. I’ve got a few more fairs and exhibitions lined up in 2019, and I am really looking forward to them.

So what does the future hold? Furnituremaking, furniture restoration and tool restoration will always be at the centre of my work, but there are exciting opportunities ahead. Stay tuned through 2019 with me and you’ll get to find out just what lies around the corner.
